AFRICAN AMERICAN CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION

"Bridging the Gap Between Contractors, Developers and Corporations"

WELCOME, FROM OUR FOUNDER OMAR SHAREEF

Greetings to our members and supporters of African American Contractors Association (AACA): Local Chapter.

For those who are unfamiliar with AACA, the African American Contractors Association was incorporated November 14, 1989, when we determined that a great deal of construction work was being performed by majority contractors who had few or no African Americans working for their firms.

We saw this omission as an opportunity for all concerned. By organizing African American Contractors servicing professional trades persons and vendors, through highlighting their expertise we could provide a vehicle for large established companies to connect with qualified subcontractors, and we could also bring skilled minority contractors into a larger network of job opportunities.

As with most organizations, we started out with a few individuals dedicated to the economic development of the small construction/professional contractor. However, with true commitment and a belief in what we were doing, our membership in the first year expanded to over 300 contractors who were actively promoting their businesses. Now AACA has recognition and chapters in local cities around the United States.

While our focus on the professional and financial development of the small African American Contractors continues today, we see their involvement in a broader context. These businesses are an integral part of the community in which they are located. They have a responsibility to the neighborhood customers they serve and to skilled, qualified neighbors who may be seeking employment. Alliances between local business and the surrounding communities can be economically and socially rewarding for both groups. These are some of the benefits such as:

    • MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
    • COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT INITIATIVE
    • LOCAL CABLE TV SHOW
    • RESEARCH SUBCOMMITTIES
    • (CFP) CONTRACTORS FINANCING
    • OUTREACH FOR COMMUNITY AND POLITICAL ORGANIZATIONS
    • AACA BONDING AND INSURANCE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (Biap)
    • BUSINESS
    • DEVELOPMENT
    • TRAINING
